This page is rarely revised because I always forget about it.  It originally consisted of my source notes. I apologize for the incompleteness of many of the entries, and promise to do better next time. I only own a few of the books mentioned, and in most cases I made photocopies of the Sloan pages or simply took notes. In all cases, I abstracted the data and entered it in the Sloan Database. Thanks to several contributors, it's slowly growing.  New additions are welcomed, if possible, provide name, author, date, publisher, and location of document. On Hand/Available, Not all in Database, In Database, In Database & Rechecked, x = partially searched.  Numbers in boxes are known number of Sloan families including all spellings.  * Many black Sloans still require entry into the database.  Almost all microfilm census research was done by Monita Horn, normally based on published indexes and using Soundex listings for 1880, 1900 and 1910.  As time permits, I'm rechecking and saving census images as they become available on the internet.

Contains 661 Sloan & 82 Slone children with full names of parents. Also has 690 children from Sloan, Sloane & Slone mothers.

dot Texas Records, Birth Records - Summary: Info from the Texas Department of Health. Birth records 1950 - 1995,  d.p.of b. of children but no parents listed. 1,987 Sloan, 198 Slone and 104 Sloane children listed.

dot Texas Records, Marriage Records: Info from the Texas Department of Health. Marriage records from 1966 to 1997.  Usually gives age of bride & groom. 1,128 Sloan/Slone grooms and 1,071 Sloan/Slone brides.

dot Texas Records, Divorce Records: Info from the Texas Department of Health. Divorce records from 1968 to 1995.  Usually gives age of individuals, date of marriage, date/place of divorce and # of children less than eighteen.  628 "male" Sloan/Slone divorces.  Maiden name of females not given.

Death records from 1964 to 1998.  Gives complete date and county of death.  Great when used with the SocSec Death Index which gives date of birth and last known address.  Contains 1,086 Sloan/Sloane/Slone deaths.   SSDI goes up to Nov. 2000 but only and has 799 Sloan/Sloane/Slone Tx. deaths.
